Timber Lanes is a retro bowling alley located in the North Center neighborhood of Chicago.
Their website lacks interactive features and functionality. Notably, there is no way for users to electronically reserve lanes, book parties, or register for events. This project consisted of an aesthetic refresh, along with prototyping an electronic lane reservation system.
This was a solo project. I conducted research and synthesized findings, and I designed the wireframes and interactive prototype.
The lane reservation system I designed included a 3-step process for collecting appropriate information from the user. Each section expands and collapses as appropriate, turning green as the user progresses through the process. Errors are integrated into the appropriate form sections using tool tips so the user knows exactly what to correct and how.
Critically, the user completes the entire process from the same page. Earlier designs showed using a different page to be disruptive to the overall flow. Similarly, this form is presented in the page itself as opposed to a pop-up window (as earlier designed). By doing this, the user sees a full picture of the information they are providing and interface elements can be appropriately sized for a desktop experience.
In addition to the reservation system, I completed a visual refresh to better align with modern aesthetics of website design.
